SullivanHayes joins the Horizon Uptown team
Lend Lease Communities has taken an important step toward the development of Horizon Uptown by recently retaining SullivanHayes to market and sell the community's large format retail space.
The brokerage team includes Tom Castle, Scott Nannemann and Christopher Cook.
Expected to be a super-regional retail center, Horizon Uptown will have 900,000 square feet of lifestyle and large-format retail. The community's town center will include an additional 400,000 square feet of retail stores. These shops and services will provide for the people in the east metropolitan region and beyond as well as those who live and work in or near Horizon and will give the entire retail experience a unique and local flavor.
The Central Park at Horizon

Approximately 60 acres of parks are planned, including a 40-acre central park featuring sports courts, an outdoor performance space, dog park, skate park, and community gardens. The central park will be a regional attraction in Aurora. Each neighborhood will have its own unique park with playgrounds and other program elements. There will be low-water, drought resistant landscaping throughout Horizon and highly efficient irrigation systems will be installed. The community parks system is being designed by Design Workshop, an international landscape and architecture firm.
Who's Working on Horizon Uptown?

Are you curious to know the people behind the Horizon Uptown project? Each month we'll be featuring a different member of the team.
This month the spotlight shines on Project Director, Greg Ochis. Greg brings more than 20 years of experience in landscape architecture and urban design as well as proven leadership and planning abilities to the Horizon Uptown project. Tasked with overseeing the strategic plan for the development, Greg is focused on creating a progressive and unique urban experience with an emphasis on economic, social and environmental sustainability.
Prior to joining Lend Lease Communities, Greg was president and chief operating officer of the award-winning Design Workshop. He has managed urban design, landscape architecture and planning projects in more than 15 states. He led the creation and implementation of The Commons at Riverfront Park, a redevelopment plan that transformed a 65-acre abandoned rail yard into a viable commercial property near downtown Denver.
Lend Lease Communities Wins the Gold
Lend Lease Communities was recently awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Rating for Commercial Interiors for its sustainable office build out in Downtown Denver's Alamo Plaza Building at 1401 17th Street.
A few key LEED components of Lend Lease's office space include:
More than half the electricity comes from renewable wind power
75 percent of interior space features daylight or outdoor views to increase the amount of natural light and reduce power
usage
Automated motion sensors conserve energy by turning on and off the lights when a person leaves or enters a room
Low-flow water faucets and dual flush toilets conserve water
Furnishings and millwork are made from renewable materials (strawboard, bamboo, wool, kirei board, linoleum, cotton
and burlap)
70 percent of construction waste was recycled
10 percent of materials were locally produced
The company encourages employee behavior that supports a sustainable lifestyle. Twenty percent of employees walk or
ride a bike to work and another 32 percent either carpool or take public transport. New shower and locker rooms were
installed to encourage the use of alternative modes of transport.
The Lend Lease Communities office space has also had a positive effect on its clients and supply chain. CB Richard Ellis, the building manager, recently converted to single-stream recycling waste management as a result of Lend Lease's implementation of a recycling effort. They have also converted the entire building to environmentally friendly cleaning products.
